RVA MakerFest Resurgence, is presented by Blue Cheese Robotics and Build, RVA, The Build Forward Foundation, a nonprofit organization consisting of volunteers. The well-loved event was founded by two former employees from The Martin Agency in 2014. Through community partnerships, an engaged planning Board and participation from local makers and innovators, the festival grew from 450 to 9,000 in attendees.
The mission of RVA MakerFest are:
To break down the silos between existing makers and maker groups to encourage a collaborative DIY community in Metro Richmond and surrounding cities.
Inspire all Richmonders to embrace tinkering and creation as paths to learning and innovation.
To advance the STEAM disciplines–science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics–among children to seed more makers.
